A finished Mystery Shawlette

So I came home from a weekend away and the shawl was dry and ready to be….worn? What the heck does one do with a shawlette? It’s quite pretty, yes. But practical? I think not.

I’m sure it’s partly my fault it’s so small. I was worried I wouldn’t have enough yarn to finish it so not only did I make the shawlette instead of the shawl, but I used needles that were smaller than the required needle size.

It would be a great shawl for a tiny person….like, say, a 4 year old.

But it was a lot of fun to make, and now I have a hankerin’ to make another shawl…a big one this time. And actually, I know a very stylish lady who wears fancy pretty scarfy things like this all the time and I think it would make a perfect gift for her.

But I’ll hang on to it just a tiny while longer, long enough to show to my mom when she comes to visit me from Florida this week, and my sister who I will get to see next week.

The Mystery Shawlette is blocking….

What a fun knit! It’s too small and I can barely see the pattern because of the busy yarn…but I still like it. If I were to make it again, and I just might, I would do the bigger size and use a solid colored yarn. I can’t wait to see my sister’s. Hers will really show the pattern.

When it’s done blocking, I’ll try to take a better picture.

Our day in Boston

I soooo  want to be knitting the Mystery shawl, but fun things keep getting in the way! Yesterday Mike and I took Emmet into Boston. The weather was gorgeous and we were itchin’ to do something we don’t normally do. We started out the trip by sitting in a really cool chair at Evan and Melissa’s house:

Then we went into Boston Common and enjoyed the park. Evan and Emmet found a really different tree.

I don’t know what kind of tree it is but I want one at my house.

We watched the Swan boats and Emmet threw some popcorn he found on the ground to the ducks.

We saw some American flags for Memorial day. Lots of them.

And we took a ride on a carousel!

Take a look at the name of the pub!

Emmet was very excited to see his name on the building.

And all this excitement made for one VERY tired little boy. A little boy who had skipped his nap that day.

And could no longer stay awake, not one more moment. Emmet loves this stroller and stopped me from selling it at a garage sale a few weeks ago. Good thing!

Today there will be a cookout, and then HOPEFULLY some serious shawl knitting when I get home tonight.
